Fatal Crash Shuts Down 18 Mile Road In Sterling Heights For Hours

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - One person has been killed in what police are calling a "severe traffic incident" in Sterling Heights.

Sterling Heights police said one person died in the crash that involved a semi truck and a passenger vehicle, late Thursday afternoon, along 18 Mile Road between Mound Road and Van Dyke.

Details about the person killed — including name, age and gender — were not immediately released. No additional injuries were reported.

It's unclear at this time what led to the crash or who was at fault.

All lanes of 18 Mile Road, both east and westbound, were closed between Enterprise and Van Dyke as emergency crews remained on the scene into the evening.

The roadway reopened to traffic shortly after 8 p.m.
