12 Mile And Telegraph Intersection Rated Among Most Dangerous For Crashes

DETROIT (WWJ) - A dubious honor at best, with 19 of the top 20 Michigan intersections for crashes located in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties -- the other, in the Ann Arbor area.

One of the busiest intersections in all of Michigan is at 12 Mile and Telegraph, and it had the second highest number of crashes with 132 according to Michigan Auto Law.

Some drivers speaking with WWJ were more surprised than others;

"Just watching out for some of the people from out-of-town - not knowing that they can make a left there and they've got to make a Michigan-U. Other thank that I haven't had too many issues here," said one driver.

Why does he think there are so many accidents?

"Too much traffic, and people in a hurry to go to work -- like I am."

The most crash-crazy intersection was the Pontiac Trail M-5 roundabout with 186 wrecks, but traffic experts argue the stat is misleading as it doesn't measure the rate of crashes compared to traffic volume.
