$10,000 Reward Offered After Armed Robbery Of Mailman

DETROIT (WWJ) The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whomever robbed a letter carrier on his route in broad daylight.

It happened Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at approximately 12:40 p.m.

Police said a letter carrier was delivering mail near the intersection of Balfour Street and Southampton Street in Detroit when he was approached by two men, one carrying a gun.

One of the suspects was described as an African-American male, approximately 16-18 years old, 5 foot 5 inches tall, with a small build, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, yellow jeans with paint on them, and white gym shoes. The other suspect was also an African-American male approximately 16-18 years old, 5'3" tall, stocky build, and was wearing a navy blue jogging suit. The suspects fled on foot.

Why the big reward? "This type of crime affects the ability of the Postal Service to deliver your mail," the postal service said in a press release.
