10-Month-Old Girl Accidentally Run Over In Driveway In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - An infant has died after being run over by an SUV on Detroit's west side.

Police say the 10-month old girl, identified as Jada Taylor, was accidentally run over by her mother on Westmoreland Road, where the family was reportedly visiting.

The 25-year-old mother wanted to leave, police said, while dad stayed in the backyard with the kids. It was not immediately clear how the baby wandered unnoticed into the driveway, where she was killed while the mother was backing out.

The child was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.

It's unclear at this time what charges, if any, the mother may face.

An investigation is ongoing.
