Woman, Dog, Cat Killed In Port Huron Township Motel Fire

PORT HURON TWP. (AP) - Authorities in eastern Michigan say that a 60-year-old woman was killed in a fire at a motel in St. Clair County.

The Times Herald of Port Huron identifies the victim of Monday's fire as Sharon Macey.

According to the sheriff's department, authorities got a call about 4 a.m. to the Flamingo Motel in Port Huron Township, about 55 miles northeast of Detroit.

The department says firefighters had to force their way into Macey's room and found her dead inside. It says the fire also damaged an adjacent room.

A dog and a cat also died in the fire. So far, authorities haven't determined what started the blaze.
