1 Killed, 3 Hurt In Multi-Car Crash On M-59 In Pontiac

PONTIAC (WWJ) - Authorities have reopened a busy section of M-59 in Pontiac following a fatal crash investigation.

The accident happened Tuesday morning on eastbound M-59 between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Opdyke Road.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office says an unidentified driver after his Chevy Trailblazer lost control of his vehicle, crossed the median, hit two other cars near Opdyke Road, and burst into flames. He died at the scene.

Three other people suffered injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

All involved were wearing seatbelts, police said.  As an investigation continues, detectives say it does not appear that alcohol was a factor.

The eastbound side of the freeway was closed for several hours as police investigate the scene, but has since reopened.
