1 Killed, 3 Hurt In Industrial Explosion

LAPEER (WWJ) - One person was killed and three others injured Tuesday in an explosion at a Lapeer machine shop.

Police and fire officials responded just after 2 p.m. to Lapeer Industries, after the explosion reportedly happened behind the business.

The cause was not immediately known. The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration was called in to help investigate.

Lapeer Industries supplies various automotive and defense components to major corporations and the U.S. military.

The names of the victims have not been released.
