DETROIT (WWJ) - Police say one person is dead and another is hospitalized after their car crashed into a tree near the Detroit-Hamtramck border.

The accident happened around 6:30 p.m. Friday on Caniff near Delmar Street, just west of I-75.

Police say a 2010 black Chevy Impala was going eastbound on Caniff when the driver lost control and hit tree. The vehicle then rolled over.

Investigators aren't sure if the young man who died was driving or a passenger. His identity has not yet been released.

The second victim, a 23-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries and was last listed in stable condition.

Police say at this time, they're not sure if alcohol or speed were factors in the accident.
