1 Dead, 1 Rescued After Fall Through Ice In Clinton County

VICTOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say one man is dead and another was taken to a hospital after falling through ice while fishing on a private pond in Clinton County.

Clinton County Sheriff's Sgt. Dan Spitzley said rescuers were called to a residence in Victor Township Saturday afternoon. He said one man had been pulled from the pond by someone at the residence by the time rescuers arrived. The other man was located and removed from the water about an hour later and pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff's office said the man who died was 54. The Lansing State Journal reports officials say the other man, who is 56, was taken to a hospital and later released.

The Muskegon Chronicle reports a fisherman was rescued Sunday morning after falling through ice on Little Black Lake in western Michigan.
