Yuma Teen Killed In Apparent Accidental Shooting

YUMA, Colo. (AP) — Students in the eastern Colorado community of Yuma are mourning the death of a 16-year-old boy in an apparent accidental shooting.

Jaden Rahm, a sophomore at Yuma High School, was with three friends in a truck during lunch break Monday when a shotgun used for hunting birds went off in the back seat.

Sheriff Chad Day told KMGH-TV that Rahm was hit through the back of his seat.

Students from Yuma High School held a candlelight vigil Monday night to honor Rahm, an athlete who wanted to be a farmer. They remembered him as someone who brought students together and tried to cheer up anyone having a bad day.

Counseling services are being made available to students, families and staff at the school.
