(CBS4) - Leaders in Arapahoe County will take a closer look at a proposal to build an Xcel Energy natural gas pipeline through a conservation area for prairie dogs. Officials at Xcel want to replace the existing pipeline and put the new one through Cherry Creek State Park.
Opponents say it could disrupt both the prairie dog colony and aquatics in the area.
The Arapahoe County Planning Commission is set to discuss the proposal on Tuesday night.
