Wounded Aurora Officer Organizes Blood Drive To Give Thanks
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - The Aurora police officer shot while on duty in November is organizing a blood drive on Wednesday to thank the community for its support during his recovery.
Ryan Burns was wounded after pulling over a car thief on Nov. 14. The suspect in the shooting fled the scene but was captured a few days later.
Burns underwent four surgeries and received five pints of blood at University of Colorado Hospital.
The blood drive will be Wednesday at Aurora City Hall, but it's only open to Aurora police and city employees. Anyone who wants to donate blood in support is asked to visit a Bonfils blood donation center.
