World's Best Snowboarders Compete At Vail's US Open

VAIL, Colo. (CBS4) - As the weather turns warm some people are ready for Old Man Winter to take a hike, while others love what he leaves behind: snow, and lots of it!

Just in time to enjoy the fresh powder, Vail is hosting the Burton US Open this week where some of the world's best snowboarders will compete.

Vail had seven inches of new powder Wednesday, another seven inches the day before, and has received more than three feet of snow in the past week!

The 33rd Burton U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships, which first took place in 1982, draws some of the best riders to Golden Peak. Snowboarders will compete for the title in Halfpipe and Slopestyle.

Not only will snow sports be plentiful, but concerts from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Moon Hooch, and Girl Talk are free to the public.

The championship runs from March 5 - 7.

You can learn more about the concerts, competitors, and which hashtag to use on Vail's website.
