Woman Who Ran Over Husband Convicted Of Vehicular Homicide

BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4)- The Westminster woman who ran over her husband was convicted on Thursday of manslaughter, vehicular homicide and DUI on Thursday.

Nancy Arias, 39, ran over her husband Phillip Lobato, 38, during an argument on Aug. 11, 2014. It happened on 72nd Avenue near Federal Boulevard. Lobato was killed after Arias ran over him.

Police say it started with an argument in the car over cheating. Arias told police she ran over her husband after he hit her several times in the face.

During closing arguments, Chief Deputy District Attorney Rhoda Pilmer told the jury that Arias deliberately ran over her husband with the car. "He was no longer a threat to her," she said. "He had walked away and was in the parking lot. She had choices, she had so many other choices, and she chose to run him over with a car that night."

Sentencing for Arias has been scheduled for Sept. 11 in Adams County Court.
