Woman Sentenced For Social Security Fraud
DENVER (AP) - A Colorado woman has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for collecting more than $224,000 in Social Security payments meant for her late mother-in-law.
Camille Taylor never told authorities that her mother-in-law died in June 1981.
The Denver Post reported Tuesday that Taylor collected the monthly benefits until the government realized her mother-in-law was dead in 2014.
U.S. District Judge Christine Arguello sentenced the 69-year-old Taylor on Tuesday. Arguello also sentenced Taylor to six months' home detention after her release from prison and ordered her to pay $224,339 in restitution.
