Woman Rescued From Poudre River After Getting Trapped In A 'Strainer'

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - A woman was rescued from the Cache la Poudre River in Fort Collins on Sunday.

Crews rushed to Overland Trail and the Poudre River just after noon. When rescuers arrived they found the woman trapped in what's called a "strainer," which blocks the passage of larger objects but allows water through.

"One person from the rafting group was helping hold the female's head above water. A rescue boat and rope-rigging system were also used as the location was down a steep embankment," Patrick Love with Poudre Fire Authority said in a statement.

The woman had been tubing down the river with a group. She was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
