Woman Rescued After 80-Foot Fall In RMNP
DENVER (CBS4) - A Boulder woman was injured after falling over 80 feet in Rocky Mountain National Park on Tuesday morning.
A 28-year-old woman from Boulder was near the Deep Freeze climbing route with a partner when she fell from her ropes. They were three miles from the Glacier Gorge Trailhead, and roughly 500 feet above The Loch on Thatchtop Mountain.
The woman received numerous injuries but was conscious. Park Rangers were called for help by a cellphone shortly after 11 a.m., and were able to reach her at 2:30 p.m.
Rangers lowered her down to an air ambulance that had landed on a frozen lake, and transported her to St. Anthony's Hospital.
A total of 18 rescue personnel were involved. Fortunately, weather conditions were favorable for helicopter assistance.
