Woman Pleads Guilty To Killing Infant Daughter, Faces 48 Years In Prison

DENVER (CBS4) - A woman has pleaded guilty to causing the death of her 2-month-old daughter.

According to Lynn Kimbrough with the district attorney's office, Kelsy Newell-Skinner, 22, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

"In exchange for her guilty plea, charges of first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death were dismissed," Kimbrough said in a statement.

Natalee Hurst-Skinner died on July 31, 2014. She was taken to Children's Hospital located at 13123 East 16th Avenue with signs of abuse.

"Once at the hospital, the baby was determined to have multiple skull fractures, broken ribs, severe bruising, bite marks on her thigh and brain damage," Kimbrough said.

Skinner is still in custody and faces up to 48 years in prison when she is sentenced on May 20.
