Woman Killed In Collision With Semi

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - An SUV and a semi-truck collided in a deadly crash on Thursday morning in Centennial.

Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office received a call just before 2 a.m. that the two vehicles had struck each other on South University Boulevard at East Dry Creek Road.

A red Honda CR-V was driving south on University and drifted into the northbound lanes and struck the semi, which was driving north toward the car. The semi driver attempted to avoid the SUV but the Honda struck the semi behind the cab. The semi jackknifed and fuel spilled.

The woman driving the SUV died on the scene. The driver of the semi wasn't injured.

Both directions of University Boulevard between Otero Avenue and East Fremont Avenue were closed for approximately six hours as the scene was investigated.

The road was fully reopened around 9 a.m.

It's not clear why the woman drifted into the northbound lanes.

No names have been released.

No charges will be filed.
