Woman Killed By SUV While Retrieving Something From Street

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) - A deadly accident in Thornton had an intersection shut down Friday morning.

At approximately 1 a.m., an SUV hit a woman in the street at 84th Avenue and Washington Street. The woman had been on a motorcycle, then pulled off on the side of the road and got off to try to grab something in the middle of the street. At that time, two men driving in the SUV hit the woman.

Paramedics tried to save her but she died on scene. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to factors.

The two men did not flee and police said they were cooperating. Investigators worked to recreate the scene and closed off the street for several hours. It has since been reopened.

Police so far have not been able to identify the woman.
