The incident started when police chased after a suspect who was wanted for a probation violation.

Denver police say multiple people were inside the apartment. Some of them knew the suspect, including the woman who was hurt when the single shot was fired.

"As the officer entered the apartment, that's when the shot was fired," Steve Warneke with Denver police said. "Very superficial wounds. Not sure what she was struck with ... shrapnel from the door as it came in, bullet or bullet itself."

According to police, the woman has minor cuts on her neck and face.

That suspect, identified as Lorenzo Banks, 28, was arrested. His past is littered with various felonies, including robbery, kidnapping, car theft and selling dangerous drugs.

The name of the officer involved has yet to be released.
