Woman Faces Charges After Allegedly Firing Gun In Van With Toddler Inside
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - A Colorado Springs mother is facing child abuse charges after police say she fired a gun inside her van with her toddler inside.
Cynthia Yancey allegedly told police someone was shooting at her vehicle Sunday night on Interstate 25 near Highway 85. But once police caught up with Yancey they determined her story was made up and she shot out the back window of the van.
Police say Yancey fired the shot while her husband was driving. Her child was in the car but was not hurt.
According to police, Yancey's husband refused to pull over when police caught up to their vehicle. James Yancey is facing charges of misdemeanor vehicular eluding and child abuse.
