Woman Charged In False Rape Accusation Case

DENVER (CBS4)- A woman accused of making a false claim of sexual assault against a man earlier this year has been formally charged.

Jasmine Burlingame has been charged with false reporting and two counts of attempt to influence as public servant.

Burlingame reported that she had been sexually assaulted in February and identified a 32-year-old man as a suspect.

The charges allege that Burlingame continued to allege to being assaulted by the man even after DNA evidence was developed that excluded him as a suspect.

Burlingame has been released from custody on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond. She is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Sept. 28 at 1:30 p.m. to be formally advised of the charges.
