Woman Captured On Surveillance Stealing Package

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4)- Surveillance cameras captured a woman stealing a package from a Thornton family's front porch in the middle of the day. Now that family hopes someone will recognize the suspect before she can strike again.

The package was stolen happened Wednesday morning while Michael Wastart's wife and children were inside.

"What if they had tried to break into the house?" Wastart said.

Surveillance video shows that at 11:32 a.m. a UPS driver drops off a large package. Fifteen minutes later a green truck pulls into the family's driveway and a woman gets out and steals the package.

She appears to be wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, jeans and a gray beanie. Wastart describes the truck as GM Sierra extended cab.

"If she would come to our house and steal a package, when we have obvious cameras," Wastart continued, "Then she's probably done this before and she's continue to do this."

Inside the stolen package were new boots for his two young boys.

"It's just boots, it's just a minor annoyance," Wastart hopes someone recognizes her and comes forward. "We want to get the word out as much as possible so she and her accomplice can be stopped,"

Wastart added, "We've been talking about upgrading (our) cameras to get some HD ones, just got to hope no one steals the package."

Wastart is offering a $100 reward for information leading to an arrest of the driver. Anyone with information should contact Thornton police.

To prevent mail theft experts say it's best to require a signature when getting packages delivered.
