Witness: '30 Shots Fired' Outside Motel, 3 Rushed To Hospital

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - A witness described dozens of gunshots outside a motel on  East Colfax Avenue early Friday morning. Three people were rushed to the hospital.

Aurora police closed Colfax between Beeler Street and Chester Street after reports of shots fired. At the scene, a bicycle was in the middle of eastbound lanes and officers placed numerous evidence markers. Investigators focused much attention on a motel, the Carriage Motor Inn.

A witness in the area at the time of the alleged shooting described what he heard.

"It sounded like at least 30, yeah at least 30 shots. One after the other," the man said.

Three men were rushed to the hospital. Police say each victim was found in a separate location, one inside a room, one in the parking lot and one across the street from the inn.

"I heard two shots first then the rest of them. There had to be like 24 shots after that," said witness Michael Barnes.

All of the victims were in surgery and expected to survive.

Investigators continue to search for a motive but are not searching for any suspects.
