With No New Growth, Firefighters Scale Back At Moffat County Wildfire
DINOSAUR, Colo. (CBS4) - Firefighters battling a wildfire that broke out last Saturday in Moffat County near the town of Dinosaur have scaled down on Thursday to due minimal growth.
The fire, which is burning on Dinosaur National Monument property in the Ecklund Draw area along the Green River's Lodore Canyon, was estimated at 526 acres on Thursday morning. It was caused by lightning, according to the Bureau of Land Management.
"Due to minimal activity over the past two days, fire crews on the Ecklund Fire are beginning mop up and demobilization activities," Dan Johnson with Dinosaur National Monument said in a statement. "One helicopter and one fire crew will remain in the area to monitor the fire for any new starts."
