By Chris Spears

DENVER (CBS4) - After a week of weather filled with above normal temperatures and plenty of blue bird skiing, a major weather change will move into Colorado in time for the weekend.

The mountains will see snow by late Friday and lasting through the day on Saturday.

There's potential for several inches to accumulate in the high country by Saturday night.

Then a second surge of moisture will arrive Sunday for Colorado's mountains, keeping the snow machine going well into next week.

All of Colorado's high country will have the potential to see over a foot of snow from this new round of unsettled weather.

DENVER, FRONT RANGE

For Denver, the Front Range and eastern plains, mild weather on Saturday will quickly give way to much colder and unsettled conditions by Sunday with the threat for snow showers.

A much bigger chance for snow will arrive on Monday as the main part of this storm moves across the state and forms a strong area of low pressure somewhere between the Texas panhandle and Colorado's southeast plains.

Depending on how things come together there is the chance to see heavy snow and strong wind in Denver and on the eastern plains starting Monday and lasting into early Tuesday.
