Evacuations Ordered For Williams Fork Fire Burning In Grand County
(CBS4) - The Williams Fork Fire started early Friday afternoon in Grand County south of Williams Fork Reservoir and grew from 10 acres to more than 1,300 acres by Friday evening. Just a few hours later, the Grand County Sheriff's Office ordered mandatory evacuations for residents living in the vicinity of the fire in addition to two campgrounds along County Road 30 ordered to evacuate earlier in the day.

The sheriff issued this alert on the Grand County Sheriff's Office Facebook page: "Mandatory evacuations have been ordered by the Grand County Sheriff for homes in the immediate vicinity of the Williams Fork Fire, not currently including the Fraser Valley. The fire is in a remote area of the upper Williams Fork Valley and is growing to the east towards Church Park. Take an overnight bag with necessary items such as regular medications, change of clothes, identification, cash, water, snacks. Don't forget your pets and their food, bowls, and meds."

The evacuation order also affects Sugarloaf Campground and South Fork Campground.

The fire is burning on U.S. Forest Service land near Henderson Mill. County Road 30 and County Road 3 have been closed.
The burn area is located southeast of Kremmling and southwest of Hot Sulfur Springs.
Hard road closures: CR 30 from CR3 due to fire. Heavy air support has been ordered. Mandatory evacuations on CR30: Sugarloaf Campground and South Fork Campground.

The fire was initially estimated to be 10 acres in size but quickly grew to more than 1,300 acres by Friday evening and officials have ordered heavy aerial support.
