Wildfire Danger: Forest Service Wants To Clear Large Areas Of Beetle Kill

(CBS4) -- After our historic wildfire season, Colorado is taking another look at forest management. We had our three largest fires in state history in 2020.

Colorado hasn't experienced logging on the same scale as the Pacific Northwest. Now the state forest service wants to clear large swathes of beetle kill, both to reduce fuel and create fire breaks.

However, forest ecologists warn clear cuts can accelerate erosion and harm habitat for wildlife.
