Fire Breaks Out Near Bailey, Evacuations Ordered

BAILEY, Colo. (CBS4)- A wildfire burning near Bailey sent up a lot of white smoke on Thursday afternoon. Evacuations were ordered for a radius 1/2 mile from the fire just before 5 p.m. Those living 1 mile radius of the fire should be prepared to evacuate.

The Shooting Range Fire has burned 15 acres on Forest Service land at the Harris Park Shooting Range located eight miles north of Bailey in Park County.

The Forest Service and multiple cooperative resources are fighting the fire, including two SEATs, one air attack and one air tanker, USFS Monument Type 3 helicopter, two engines and a 20-person hand crew.

The fire was about 15 percent contained on Thursday night.

One man posted a video on his Twitter account that showed a lot of smoke.

Copter4 flew over the fire on Thursday afternoon where a helicopter was making water drops on the fire.

Investigators are still looking into what caused the fire.

Just a few hours earlier, the Park County Sheriff's Office posted a Red Flag Warning on its Facebook page warning about the fire danger in the area.
