Crews Take Aggressive Action On '186 Fire' Burning In Southwestern Colorado

DURANGO, Colo. (CBS4)- Lightning sparked a wildfire that's burning northeast of Durango. The 186 fire is one of two wildfires burning in Colorado right now.

The wildfire has burned nine acres. Fire managers are attacking it aggressively, using air resources to keep flames from spreading.

Three air tankers, air attack and a helicopter assisted 40 firefighters on the ground in containing the fire. Dead and downed trees are making the terrain difficult for fire crews who are fighting the fire.

The U.S. Forest Service says that smoke will likely be visible from within the fire area for days, even after containment is achieved.
