Wild Animal Sanctuary Visitor Fee Jumps From $15 To $50

KEENESBURG, Colo. (AP) — The Wild Animal Sanctuary northeast of Denver has increased fees for daily visitors from $15 to $50.

The 1-square-mile refuge in Keenesburg is home to 350 animals, including lions, tigers, bears and wolves. Many were rescued from abusive situations.

The sanctuary tells The Denver Post that the visitor fee increase is meant to encourage potential patrons to become long-term "supporters" of the facility. People who pay $200 over a 12-month period will be considered supporters, with no daily admission fee for them or their guests.

The carnivore rescue facility is about 40 miles northeast of Denver.
