Wheat Ridge Bridge Repair Work Means Lane Closures On I-70

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - Travelers on Interstate 70 in Wheat Ridge will be slowed down for the next two weeks by a bridge repair job.

Crews with the Colorado Department of Transportation have just begun repairing the 32nd Avenue bridge along Interstate 70. Two of the westbound lanes will be closed on weekdays through Dec. 19.

The bridge was due for repairs in the spring, but frequent and sometimes large potholes that formed on the bridge started to become a safety issue. CDOT decided the emergency repairs would be necessary sooner than that.

Before Thanksgiving crews worked on the eastbound lanes, and this week work will be taking place on the westbound lanes.

The work is being done only on the weekdays this week and next week.

Alternate routes for westbound travelers are Highway 58, 6th Avenue or Colfax Avenue.
