Water Main Break Along MLK Boulevard Keeps Lanes Closed Through Afternoon

DENVER (CBS4) - A water main break at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Glencoe Street, just east of Colorado Boulevard, is expected to affect traffic through Wednesday evening.

Denver Water responded to the 12-inch diameter rupture of a 68-year-old pipe around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Water was shut off for 40 homes while crews worked to repair the break. Water was restored before noon.

Eastbound Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard remained closed between Hudson Street and Forest Street during repairs. The westbound direction reopened at about 6:30 a.m.

Officials have not yet identified the cause of the break.

Denver Water was curing the concrete repair on Thursday morning and expected the road to reopen for the commute.
