DENVER (CBS4) - The Colorado Avalanche Information Center has issued Avalanche Warnings for several of Colorado's mountain chains after 10 confirmed avalanches were reported on Monday.
The avalanches occurred in areas around Gunnison, Vail and Summit County. At least three of those were trigger by skiers.
The warning includes the Park Range, Flat Top Mountains, Ruby Range, the Elk and West Elk Mountains, the San Juan and San Miguel Mountains, the Rico Mountains, the La Garita Mountains and the Uncompahgre Plateau.
Up to two feet of snow has already fallen in some locations and more is expected as a potent and slow-moving winter storm slams the region.
Winter storm warnings remain in effect for areas along and west of the Continental Divide through Wednesday.
