Warning: Backcountry Avalanches Likely On Sunday West Of Denver

DENVER (CBS4) - The Colorado Avalanche Information Center says heavy wind-blown snow from the most recent winter storm has prompted very dangerous avalanche conditions in north-central Colorado.
An avalanche warning has been issued through 12 p.m. Monday for locations around Vail, Summit County and the Front Range Mountains. The highest risk for a slide is near and above treeline.
One to two feet of new and wind-blown snow are loading weak layers buried deeper in the snowpack. The CAIC says multiple avalanches have been triggered so far this weekend and observers reported natural avalanche activity Sunday morning.
Travel in the backcountry is not advised over the next 24 to 36 hours.
