Voters Drop Off Ballots For Colorado Primary

DENVER (CBS4)- Voters continued to drop off ballots for Colorado's primary on Tuesday. The statewide race garnering a lot of attention is the battle for a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate.

As of Tuesday morning, 72 percent of Republicans in the state had not cast a ballot.

Secretary of State Wayne Williams said it's really important for everyone to vote.

"There are very close races in Colorado history. We've had governor's races decided by 8,000 votes, we've had races actually decided by a single vote. So it really is important," said Williams.

To be counted, the ballots must dropped off by 7 p.m. Tuesday at ballot drop boxes or voting centers. Unaffiliated voters can still participate if they register with a party before then.

The Senate race is the only statewide contest but voters around the state are also picking candidates for seven congressional districts, all 22 district attorney's offices and dozens of state legislative seats.
