Video Captures Awesome Supercell Thunderstorm In Wyoming

DENVER (CBS4) - One reason why so many stormchasers flock to the high plains of Eastern Colorado and Wyoming is the chance to capture the structure of a supercell thunderstorm as it develops.

This timelapse video by Basehunters Chasers went viral after it was taken on Sunday in northeast Wyoming.

In meteorology, this type of storm is called a low precipitation supercell.

The dry, arid climate of the high plains affords beautiful views of these storms that typically produce large hail, high winds and occasionally tornadoes, but little in the way of rainfall.
