Victim In Lakewood Hit & Run Identified

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- The woman killed in a hit-and-run in Lakewood has been identified and the suspect driver appeared in court.

Just before midnight Thursday, Lakewood police say a driver ran down and killed a female pedestrian and then kept driving. The victim, Ernestine Maynes, 45, was killed.

It happened on Colfax Avenue near Wadsworth Boulevard. Police arrested Jonathan Cordova, who they say has three previous DUI's. Cordova appeared in Jefferson County Court on Saturday and remained behind bars on $750,000 bond.

He is facing vehicular homicide DUI, hit-and-run causing death, DUI or DUID with three priors and failure to comply probation violation DUI.

Police say a Good Samaritan helped police track down Cordova.
