United Airlines Passengers Wait Hours For Baggage At DIA

DENVER (CBS4)- United Airlines passengers traveling to or through Denver International Airport had to wait hours for their luggage on Tuesday and Wednesday.

"It was chaos," said passenger Corinne Hennessy.

Hennessy flew in Tuesday night but said after more than two hours of waiting for her luggage, she grew frustrated and went home.

"There were hundreds of people. There were even people lying on the carpet. I guess just waiting it out," said Hennessy.

A United Airlines corporate spokesman said the airlines apologizes for the issues and that "weather delays and cancellations combined with higher than normal checked bag volumes are contributing to the longer wait times for a minority of customers."

United also said they've just begun working with a new vendor, Simplicity, to handle ground baggage. The airline said they are working with the company to ensure they can meet customer expectations.

Passenger Crystal Wakeham has been trying to get from Washington, DC to Spokane, Wash. She hopes her bags will be waiting for her.

"I fly once a month for work and I've never seen anything like this," said Wakeham. "I'll never fly United again. There's no way."
