Uncle Of Longmont Stabbing Victim Says She Faces A 'Long Recovery'

LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4) - The pregnant woman who was attacked and lost her baby in Longmont this week is facing a lengthy recovery, according to her uncle.

In a gofundme page that created to help her financially, her uncle Chris Wilkins says Michelle Wilkins is an artist who recently moved to the area.

"She had just started a job teaching pottery classes after moving to Colorado," he writes on the gofundme page.

Wilkins remained in the hospital on Saturday as she continues her recovery after being stabbed and seriously injured by a woman police say is Longmont resident Dynel Lane. Wilkins allegedly came to her house to buy baby clothes that had been featured on Craigslist.

Wilkins was in the seventh month of her pregnancy and after the suspect cut the baby from her body it was taken from her and later died.

Her uncle described the suspect as a "deranged woman." He said Wilkins spent two days in intensive care at Longmont United Hospital.
