ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico's congressional delegation has announced that the federal government will spend $15.2 million to upgrade railroad tracks used by Amtrak's Southwest Chief passenger route.

State transportation officials say the funding awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation will be used to replace worn ties and repair miles of roadbed in Santa Fe County west of Lamy.

The Southwest Chief runs between Chicago and Los Angeles. The service has New Mexico stops in Raton, Las Vegas, Lamy, Albuquerque and Gallup.
