This Week's Full Moon Goes By Several Names

DENVER (CBS4) - July's full moon appeared in Colorado overnight Tuesday, and could be seen lingering over the mountains Wednesday morning.

This time of year, the full moon is called the Full Buck Moon. July is typically the month when male deer begin growing their antlers, sprouting in coatings of velvety fur.

July's full moon is also referred to as the Full Thunder Moon, due to the thunderstorm season being at its height. Another name was the Full Hay Moon.

Copter4 captured video of the bright full moon as the sun began to rise.
