Trump Opens Campaign Office In Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is expanding his campaign presence in Colorado with an office in Jefferson County. The area is expected to be one of the most important in this year's election.

"We think the race is getting closer, not that the gap is getting wider, here in Colorado," said Patrick Davis, the director of Trump's campaign in Colorado. "We think we're getting here at just the right time."

Davis believes the polls that show Trump down double digits will trend towards Republican by November.

"It's not a tough mountain to climb if the trajectory keeps going in that direction," said Davis.

Republican Congressman Mike Coffman has an ad stating that he will stand up to Trump and hasn't endorsed him. Trump's campaign supports that ad and calls it smart politics.

"If people like Mike Coffman are defeated and not able to be there with him, working with him... that's a bad thing. So we think that Mike Coffman has to do what it takes to win this election," said Davis.

Trump's four campaign offices along the Front Range are overshadowed by Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's 16 campaign offices across Colorado.

"Our strategy is very simple. Our goal is to build an organization that spans the four corners of Colorado," said Davis.
