Truck Fire Temporarily Shuts Down I-70 At Eisenhower Tunnel

CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - The westbound direction of Interstate 70 was closed at the Eisenhower Tunnel overnight Monday due to a semi-truck fire.

It began at approximately 1:30 a.m. at mile marker 215. Photos released by Colorado State Patrol show the cab in flames and a large smoke plume.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames and one lane of westbound travel reopened at 3 a.m. The right and center lanes remained closed at mile marker 210 until 4 a.m.

I-70 is now clear. No one was injured in the incident.
