Trevor Siemian Named Broncos Starting Quarterback

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - The Denver Broncos have a starting quarterback for the regular season.

Coach Gary Kubiak told the team Monday morning Trevor Siemian will be the starter.

Siemian played the entire first half of the Broncos preseason game against the Rams on Saturday night and threw a touchdown and an interception.

He had been in competition with veteran Mark Sanchez and rookie Paxton Lynch for the job. Sanchez didn't play in Saturday's game and his spot on the roster could be in jeopardy.

Through three preseason games, the last two of which he started, Siemian is 27 for 43 with 285 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. He was 10 for 17 against the Rams.

The Broncos have their final preseason game Thursday night against the Arizona Cardinals. Then the regular season kicks off on Sept. 8 against the Carolina Panthers.
