Man Rushed To Hospital After Trench Collapse In Denver

DENVER (CBS4) -- A man has been transported to the hospital after a trench collapse at a construction site in Denver. The man was totally buried under the dirt, from head to toe, according to Doug Pixley with the Denver Fire Department.

Friends uncovered his head so he could breathe, then firefighters dug him out.

It happened on West 14th Avenue, between Yates and Xavier streets.

"One injured party transported for evaluation of injuries after being removed from collapse area," the Denver Fire Department tweeted.

Officials did not provide any information about the man's condition after he was rescued from the trench. One firefighter was injured during the rescue, but the fire department did not elaborate.
