Trauma Kits Designed To Save Lives

DENVER (CBS4)- Law enforcement officers across Colorado will soon have a new took to save lives-- trauma kits.

The Colorado Attorney General's Office has started distributing trauma kits to more than 2,000 officers.

The kits include a vacuum-sealed bag with a tourniquet, a gauze pack, a bandage and gloves.

Aurora Police Officer Dale Leonard used the tourniquet to save his partner's life during an emergency.

"I don't take credit for it, I'm just thankful I was able to do it and it saved Ryan. He's my best friend, he's my partner. I had it in my pocket, I'm glad I was able to take care of business," said Leonard.

The kits were purchased with money recovered in drug cases.
