Tornado Touches Down In Weld County
WELD COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Severe storms, including tornado touchdowns, moved across Colorado's Front Range and onto the Eastern Plains on Friday.
A tornado damaged portions of a family's farm -- destroying windows, tearing up roofs and scattering debris -- in Weld County close to Roggen sometime after 2:30 p.m.
The tornado was on the ground for no more than 20 seconds. No one was hurt.
"I was scared at first because I have never seen anything like it. It was new to me," a family member told CBS4.
George Klausner was inside his shed when the tornado moved directly over him.
"What windows didn't bust, (the tornado) sandblasted them so bad, there's nothing left of them," Klausner said.
Copter4 showed the funnel cloud strengthening and weakening, but remaining on the ground for at least 15 minutes.
Sheriff's deputies said the storm downed power lines and uprooted trees in the area of County Road 79 and County Road 16.
Adams County Sheriff's Department spokesman Lt. Aaron Pataluna said there were multiple reports of tornadoes north of Strasburg.
There was also a confirmed tornado east of Trinidad in Southern Colorado.
