Toddler Run Over, Killed By Car Backing Out Of Driveway

DENVER (CBS4)- A toddler was killed in an accident where a vehicle, driven by his father, was backing out of a driveway.

Police rushed to a home in the 2400 block of South Utica Street just after 7 p.m. Wednesday. When they arrived they found a 3-year-old boy had died after being struck by a car.

Police said it appeared to be an "accidental traffic death" in which the little boy was struck when the driver was backing out of the driveway.

Detectives said the driver was the little boy's father.

One witness told CBS4 that she heard several screams and then loud sirens.

The neighborhood was cordoned off during the investigation. Neither the victim's name nor the driver's name has been released.

It's not clear if charges will be filed in the case.
